Grinding Casting parts with CGS high-speed grinder

What is the high speed grinding machine?

A high-speed grinding machine is a specialized tool designed to efficiently remove material from a workpiece at a notably faster rate than traditional grinding machines. These machines are equipped with powerful motors and abrasive wheels that operate at higher speeds, typically measured in meters per second (m/s). The increased speed allows for more rapid material removal and enhanced efficiency in grinding processes.

These machines are often used in industrial settings, especially in applications where high precision and productivity are crucial. The high speed helps achieve smoother finishes and allows for the quick and efficient shaping of various materials. Different types of high-speed grinding machines exist, such as surface grinders, cylindrical grinders, and centerless grinders, each serving specific purposes in metalworking, manufacturing, and other industries.

For pedestal grinding machine, there is also normal speed pedestal grinder and high speed pedestal grinder.

A pedestal grinding machine is a stationary machine mounted on a pedestal, which is a platform raised off the floor. It typically consists of a motor, grinding wheel(s), and a work rest, all mounted on the pedestal. The workpiece is placed on the work rest, and the grinding wheel is used to remove material from the workpiece through abrasive cutting action.

The normal speed of a pedestal grinder is typically around 3000 revolutions per minute (RPM). This speed is suitable for various general-purpose grinding tasks and provides a balance between material removal and heat generation.

In contrast, high-speed pedestal grinders can operate at speeds significantly greater than the normal range, often reaching speeds of 80m/s. High-speed grinders are designed for specific applications where faster material removal is required, and they are equipped with features to handle the increased forces and heat generated at higher speeds.
The typical bonded wheels are not designed to withstand speeds of 80m/s, posing a considerable risk of breakage and excessive heat generation. In response, high-speed pedestal grinders are often equipped with diamond grinding wheels, allowing them to fully leverage the advantages of diamond abrasives. This configuration ensures 100% safety, minimal heat dissipation, and a dust-free operation.
